Nintendo has included their best tracks from classic Mario Kart games, but has also mixed in some new creative and fun courses like “Maple Tree Way” and the beautiful “Rainbow Road”.

Mario Kart Wii Drives Home the Fun

Nintendo’s Mario Kart Wii is another winner that brings back the best of previous Mario Kart installments and adds colorful graphics, wacky environments and the brilliant hardware innovations of the Wii console. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or just a beginner, you’ll be ready to rev your engine after only a few minutes of taking the wheel.

The Wii Wheel adds a new element to the Mario Kart series that gives you better control than ever and opens the door for anyone to play. The controls are so simple that anyone can join in on the fun. Just snap in the Wii remote and you’re ready to go with your wireless steering wheel.

Bright, colorful, and comical, Mario Kart Wii’s tracks are what pulls you into the action. One race you may be on a track with cartoonish greenery, dodging fellow racers and random obstacles on the track, the next race you may have to rip through a shopping mall, driving up escalators and bouncing off of water fountains.

This interactive change of scenery will have you laughing one moment and gritting your teeth the next, when your character plummets off a cliff while trying to navigate a gold mine. Whether you’re riding high in the lead or are pushing last place, the sheer fun factor of the game is what drives you to finish the track and continue with race after race.

Items are just as important in Mario Kart Wii as they have been in past games. An item box can mean the difference between 1st place and last when cutting a corner or zipping past an opponent because no matter how well you drive, you need to expect the unexpected in the world of Mario. It’s a battle on wheels and you’ll need the edge you get from the mysterious item boxes strewn across every course. Throw out a banana peel to trip up the competition or send out a lightning strike to super-shrink fellow players and gain a speed edge.

Characters galore, you’ll immediately be able to play as your favorite Mario series characters, but there’s more as you progress through the game. Eventually, you can personalize your racer and put your own custom Mii behind the wheel. In addition to the immediate surprise of motorbikes being added as a new feature to the game, you will be able to unlock bonuses such as secret characters, bonus karts, and bonus bikes as you work towards racing victory.

The new Mario Kart Channel challenges you to race ghosts of record-holders from all over who've become the best of the best by completing tracks in the fastest time.
After engaging in the laps the core game has to offer, the next game is just a phone call away. Ring up a friend or two with Mario Kart Wii and you can race from afar using the Wii’s Wi-Fi Connection. Want the extra challenge? Any time day or night, racers from around the world have their game face on. Gain points for besting the best and build up a stellar reputation.

Nintendo has once again achieved their goal of making a game that can be enjoyed by almost anyone. If you’re up for a fun challenge and some laughs, courtesy of the wild and wacky parts of the Mario universe, grab a friend or find some on-line through the Wii’s Wi-Fi Connect and start racing.
